Will you help me lower my blood sugar?
Having a diabetes coach will help you to understand the importance of healthy eating, being active, healthy coping, managing medications, monitoring blood sugar, reducing risks and solving problems that may arise. By increasing your knowledge, and comfort in these areas, you will be able to lower your blood sugar levels and take control of your condition.
Do I have to change everything about my diet?
You will have to change some things about how you eat to manage your diabetes. Our healthy eating and being active classes will help you understand how the foods you eat effect your blood glucose levels.
How will this work with my current medication or doctor's plan?
We will work with you and your doctor to help make sure you have the medications you need and that your questions are addressed.
Is this covered by insurance?
If you are 65 or older, we can bill Medicare for your classes.
If you have NEVER attended an organized diabetes education you can get 10 hours of education covered on Medicare.
If you HAVE attended organized diabetes classes in the past, you can get 2 hours of education covered on Medicare.
At this time, we can only bill Blue Cross Blue Shield for non-medicare patients.
Call us to discuss cost if you are not eligible for insurance coverage.
How often do we meet?
Currently classes are held every other Wednesday at 9:30 am. Contact us for more information.
How long are appointments?"
Classes typically last 2 hours.
What happens between appointments?
Your diabetes coach is available by phone to answer any questions you may have between classes.
